Bidinger, Clancy, Heeter repeat at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Nic Bidinger made it three out of the last five by winning the USRA Modified feature Friday night at the Lakeside Speedway. Leading every lap, Bidinger was initially challenged by Darron Fuqua, who often went door to door with the current point leader. On lap 14 Fuqua drifted high in turn three and four, falling back momentarily to fourth. This allowed Mark Schafman, last week’s feature winner, to move to second and challenge for the lead. By lap-23 Fuqua had regained his composure and managed to ride the cushion in turns one and two to retake second from Schafman. They would finish in that order. Kerry Davis ran a good race starting initially in 12th and finishing 4th. Nick Newton, who started 9th, rounded out the top five.

Chad Clancy picked up his third feature win of the season in the USRA B-Mod division and also led every lap on the way to victory lane. Randal Schiffelbein Jr challenged early and often for the lead but wasn’t able to capitalize as he spend a great deal of time keeping Tim Powell and Yancy Shepard behind him. Those three would battle the entire race and despite exchanging positions numerous times would finish in that order. Luke Nieman drove the most laps having won the B-feature just to qualify for the event. When all was said and done he drove from 17th to 5th.

It took two-time defending champion Breet Heeter four laps to take the lead on his way to a 25th career feature win in the USRA Stock Car division. Dean Hensler showed great promise leading the first three laps but would end up finishing third at the end. Sean Foster needed every lap to go from his fifth-row starting spot to finish third. It was only on the white flag lap that he was able to battle Hensler for second. Eddie Ingram also started on the fifth-row and rounded out the top-five.
