Repeat winners prevail in USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series action at Bentz GM Country Scotland Speedway

MEMPHIS, Mo. -- The USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series moved one step closer to coming to an end for 2005 at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway, with the running of Bradley Insurance Night. All six classes saw repeat winners pick up the feature wins, as Tony Fraise (USRA Modifieds), Bert McDaniel (USRA Stock Cars), Jack Evans Jr. (USRA B-Modifieds), Abe Huls (USRA Hobby Stocks), Craig Spilker (Cruisers) and Tyler Schulte (Hornets) claimed the wins in their respective classes.

The first feature to take to the track was the 15 lap USRA B-Modifieds, with Robbie Reed and Logan Trueblood drawing the front row for the event. But it was third place starter Jim Gillenwater jumping into the lead on lap 1. Gillenwater would pull away from the field, as Jack Evans Jr., who started 8th was working his way towards the front. Gillenwater's lead would go away on lap 12, when the caution came out. On the restart Evans Jr. would jump to the outside of Gillenwater to over take the top spot. Evans Jr. then went on to score his eighth feature win of 2005 at Memphis. Gillenwater settled for second, third went to Reed, John Shaffer was fourth, with Jeff Waterman coming from ninth to round out the top 5. Ron York and Evans Jr. would pick up the heat race wins.

Craig Spilker and Keith Reed led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 10 lap Cruiser feature, with Spilker grabbing the lead on lap 1. Spilker would lead all 10 laps and held off Dave Hudson, who came from sixth, to pick up his second win in a row at the speedway. Jeremy Buss was third, fourth went to Tony Schulte, with Matt Jackson coming home in fifth. Heat race winners were Schulte and Spilker.

Up next was the 12 lap USRA Hobby Stock feature, with Brad Weber and Abe Huls on the front row foe the event. Huls would take advantage of his front row start to move out front on lap 1. Huls would hold the top spot until lap 3, when Jim Lynch slipped by on the bottom to take the lead. But Huls would return the move the next lap to take back the lead and then held off Lynch over the next 8 laps to claim his third win of the season at Memphis. Mike Shelton would finish in third, Mark Holt was fourth, with Jimmy Hayes coming from 11th to round out the top five. Lynch, Brian Howerton and Brian Clark picked up wins in the heat races.

The next feature to take to the track was the 10 lap Hornets, with J.D. Murphy and Dave Burdette leading the field to the green. Tyler Schulte would edge Burdette at the line by inches to grab the lead on lap 1 and then held off Dennis Schulte, who started ninth, to pick up his third win of 2005 at the speedway. Travis DeMint came 7th to finish in third, Don DeMint finished fourth after starting tenth, with Jim Hamilton coming from 11th to round out the top five. Heat race winners were Tyler and Dennis Schulte.

The 18 lap USRA Stock Car feature was the next event to take to the speedway, with Bert McDaniel and Shane Weller making up the front row. McDaniel would make the most of his starting spot to grab the lead on lap 1. McDaniel would go on to lead all 18 laps and held off several challenges from Troy Alexander, who started 8th, to claim his second win in a row at Memphis. Weller held on for third, Jason Cook was fourth, with Mark Holt coming home in fifth. McDaniel and David Boas claimed the heat race wins.

The final feature of the night was the 20 lap USRA Modifieds, and what a feature event it turned out to be. Lynn Monroe and Bob Dale lead the field of twenty-two to the drop of the green flag, but it was Tony Fraise coming from third to take the lead on lap 1. Fraise would hold the top spot until lap 7, when Mark Burgtorf, who started 7th, jumped to the outside of him to take over the lead. Tony would try several times to get under Burgtorf over the next seven laps, but couldn't make the pass. So Fraise would move to the top of speedway on lap 15 and would then make the pass by Burgtorf to take the lead. Burgtorf wouldn't settle for second, as he tried Fraise high and low over the final five laps, but couldn't get it done. Fraise would go on to pick up his 7th win of 2005 at the speedway. Kevin Cale was third, Michael Long would come from 12th to finish in fourth, with Zack VanderBeek coming from tenth to round out the top five. Heat race winners were Burgtorf, Fraise and Long.

Coming up next week at the Bentz GM Country Scotland County Speedway will be Cunningham Fertilizer Season Championships. The battle for the USRA Casey's General Stores Championship Series will come to a close for the 2005 season, with Track Titles being awarded in the USRA Modifieds, USRA Stocks Cars, USRA B-Modifieds, USRA Hobby Stocks, along with the Cruisers and Hornets. Gates next week will open at 5pm, hot laps at 6:15 and racing to follow.
