American Racer Fall Festival to reward area racers in a pinch

BRITT, Iowa -- Officials at the Hancock County Speedway in Britt, Iowa, have announced that they will be adding yet another bonus to the already-enormous purse for this weekend's inaugural American Racer Fall Festival.

Last weekend, two area racetracks -- Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge and I-35 Speedway in Mason City -- were rained out on Saturday, which was to be the second of two nights at each track. Officials at both facilities have rescheduled their events for this Saturday -- the same night at the American Racer Fall Festival at the Hancock County Speedway.

"Over the last few days, we have had numerous calls from drivers who were looking forward to coming to Britt this Saturday, but have already pre-registered at their local track," said Hancock County Speedway promoter Todd Staley. "Many of these drivers have paid an entry fee for both races, and now they will have to choose one or the other. We want to help make that decision a no-brainer."

Drivers who competed at either the Mineral City Speedway or I-35 Speedway last Friday, Sept. 23, will have a chance at a bonus payoff in this coming Saturday's finale at the Hancock County Speedway's American Racer Fall Festival.

During Saturday's A-mains, the two drivers scoring the best finish that also raced last Friday at either the Fort Dodge or Mason City racetracks, will get a bonus on top of their posted winnings for the night.

In the Modified and Stock Car classes, the highest-finishing driver will get $300 and the second-highest-finishing driver will earn an extra $200. In the Hobby Stock and B-Mod divisions, the bonus payouts are $200 and $100, respectively.

That's an extra $1,600 in the prize pool on top of the $80,000-plus purse.

"It doesn't matter if you run last in Saturday's A-main at Britt and you ran last in last Friday's show at Fort Dodge, you get the bonus money if you are the highest finishing driver that raced there or Mason City last week," Staley continued. "It's all about the risk-takers who strap into those cars, put on a helmet and give our fans a show. We want the drivers to know that we take care of our own."
