WHEATLAND, Mo.—Lucas Oil Speedway and USRA officials have disqualified two competitors following failed post-race inspections at the USRA Modified sanctioned event at Lucas Oil Speedway on June 30, 2016.

Tire samples collected from the No. 8F driven by Johnny Fennewald and the No. 99T driven by Eric Turner and tested by an independent laboratory did not meet established benchmarks in chemical analysis.

A total of (3) samples were taken in the USRA Modified Division from participants. The tire samples collected from the No. 98 driven by Jeff Cutshaw did meet established benchmarks in chemical analysis.

Fennewald and Turner were found to be in violation of USRA rule 11.2.2 and were fined and suspended in accordance with USRA rule 2.15.5.

11.2.2 - Softening is not allowed. Solvents of any kind are not allowed. Altering tires with any components or chemicals which alter the manufacturer's baseline-settings of the tire is not allowed. Traces of chemicals and/or excessive quantities of chemicals found to be outside the baseline on any test shall result in the penalties declared in Rule 2.15.5 plus an additional indefinite financial penalty and indefinite length of suspension.

2.15.5 - Any illegal part discovered through inspection any time after the driver signs in to compete in that event can be confiscated by an official and forfeited by the driver. For first infraction, driver discovered to be using illegal parts of any kind shall be subject to a fine of up to two thousand dollars ($2,000), suspension from all events for up to fourteen (14) days, possible loss of all points (national and track) earned to date for the current season and forfeiture of all cash and/or awards earned at the event. For second infraction, driver shall be subject to a fine of up to five thousand dollars ($5,000), suspension from all events for up to one (1) year, loss of all points (national and track) earned to date for the current season and forfeiture of all cash and/or awards earned at the event. Confiscated parts will be sent to manufacturer for inspection. Failure by the driver to surrender any illegal part for confiscation shall result in a separate penalty, in addition to other applicable penalties under this rule.

Both drivers have been disqualified from the event, including the loss of all purse money and championship points earned during the event, fined $2,000, and the loss of all track and national points earned for the 2016 season. The total penalty, including loss of money, fine and the cost of the tire analysis was $2,750 for Fennewald and $2,650 for Turner.

Each has been placed under a (30) day suspension from all USRA and Lucas Oil Speedway events beginning on July 12, 2016 and concluding on August 12, 2016 and will be on probation following the conclusion of the suspension for the remainder of the 2016 season.
