SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- A good field of cars and a nice crowd for a 90-plus-degree day in Southern Minnesota saw great track conditions for the hot windy and humid day at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn. Gillund Enterprises, with their Justice Brothers products, was on hand along with Admiral Merchants trucking to great the fans and racers at the Speedway.

The Bigelow Homes USRA Modifieds provided another exciting night of racing action as they took to the track.

Jay Poidinger led the pack into turn one while Tim Donlinger took over the lead exiting turn 2.

Going into 3, Steve Arpin challenged Donlinger for the lead and completed the pass in turns 1-2 the next lap.

Mike Sorensen was quickly moving forward as he moved into third with Ryan Ruter in fouth.

Twenty laps to go found Poidinger, Mike Spaulding and Doug Hillson in a great race for fifth while Sorensen and Donlinger raced for second. A caution flew, and on the restart Spaulding flew between Ruter and Donlinger for the third spot as Sorensen set out after Arpin.

Most of the field at this time was dancing the high line around the top side of the speedway.

Another caution with 15 to go saw Arpin continue to lead up front. Spaulding and Sorensen raced for second as Nate Wasmund moved up to race with Ruter for fourth. Arpin was flying around the high side with Sorensen in second. Ruter was now racing Spaulding for third with Bob Timm and Wasmund behind them.

Over the following 10 circuits, Arpin stayed out front with Sorensen running just slightly below him but not able to move past. The third- through sixth-place battles continued to provide entertainment for the crowd as they ran in tight formation changing positions with every lap.

At the checkers it was Arpin taking home the win and Sorensen second with Ruter, Spaulding and Timm rounding out the top five in a great race to end the evening.

Racing action resumes next Saturday, July 22, with a 6: p.m. start time.
