SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- With perfect afternoon weather for racing action the crowd and cars came to the race track only to be threatened early on by Mother Nature.

A quick shower at 4:00 slowed down the prep crew as they tried to get the final roll-in of the track.

With a slight delay the racing action got under way with the heat race action.

About 1 hour into the racing action the clouds began to drizzle on the speedway but with the help of the drivers the racing stayed going on the track until a heavier rain hit a couple races later.

Again after some work by the prep crew the cars were called onto the speedway and thanks to their help the racing again resumed after loosing about 1 hour total time to the rain during the night.

Mike Sorensen led the first lap of the Bigelow Homes USRA Modified feature.

Mike Spaulding and Brad Waits ran side by side for second as most of the field races two and three wide.

Twenty three to go and Waits started to pressure Sorensen for the top spot.

Two laps later Waits took over the point as Todd Scharkey moved into the third spot behind Sorensen.

Behind him Spaulding, Nate Wasmund and Bob Timm battled for fourth.

A caution with seventeen to go saw Waits out front with Scharkey getting into the second spot and Timm into third.

Another caution with thirteen to go bunched the field back up. Waits continued to lead while Bob Timm moved past Scharkey for second.

Steve Arpin had moved up from his twentieth starting spot to race Sorensen and Spaulding for fourth.

The Scharkey and Timm battle continued through the next five laps with Timm running high and Scharkey low as the two ran side by side until Scharkey used lapped traffic to move soundly back into second.

Waits came home with his first feature win of the season at the speedway with Scharkey second and Timm third. Spaulding and Arpin rounded out the top five.
