Lebanon Midway Speedway, local businesses ready for return of USRA Modifieds

Martin Trucking and 33 Racing has announced a nice incentive for the Lebanon Midway Speedway USRA Modified event on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Martin Trucking will offer a bonus of $333.66 to the driver that elects to start tailback and can cleanly capture the win and an extra lottery spot of $133.66 to a drive outside the top 3.

The rules are simple: Must have a 14 car minimum. The top 6 in passing points are scheduled to redraw for their starting spots. Before any draw is done those six drivers will be asked if they want to take the offer from high point driver to sixth. If a driver says yes, then the redraw will start. If all say no, then no extra bonus money and the redraw will start for the scheduled 20-lap feature. If 14 or more are on hand a draw will happen for the lottery spot. Did we mention that it needs to be clean hard racing? Over 14 entries that start, the track will look at going 25 laps.

This race program will be awarding Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points for both Modifieds and B-Mods.

Drivers who have expressed being there include Springfield Raceway track champion Jody Tillman and the other half of the Taney County connection, Jerry Lankton, plus the Racing Principal Jason Pursley, former B-Mod track champion Mickey Burrell, Nathan Gold (who last year had the feature won on Bud Perry Night until issues sent him to the pits), Jim Body, who has two Springfield feature wins, well-known and winning motor builder John Yeoman, Warsaw hard charger Steve Scott who has a Modified just waiting for his chance to roll it out, Dallas County hard charger and veteran Modified front-runner Scotty Allen, defending USRA B-Mod national champion Ryan"The Kid" Gilmore and Danny Martin, Jeff Cutshaw and others.

With G3 Boat Night, we hope that long-time G3 employee and Modified veteran Donnie Fellers will pull his No. 24D in to compete.

Bud's Tire & Wheel will be giving away an American Racer KK704 racing tire to the winner, a racing wheel for the runner-up and a $25 certificate to the third-place finisher.

Knudtson's 32 Garage & Sales, along with Oakley Motors of Lebanon, are big fans of the Modifieds and have added $300 to be split among the top 3 finishers in the feature, while Oakley Motors has added an extra $100 to the purse for the top 3 based on 14 cars. Knudtson's then upped the amount providing another $125 for the purse and Oakley will award the leader of lap 15 an extra $100.

This puts the winner to taking home $750 for a 14-car field and with 16 entries at least $100 for ninth place through 14th while 15th and 16th can earn $90.

More information on this race will be posted. At this time, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Pure Stocks, Hornets and Midwest Modifieds will be competing along with Street Stocks.

G3 Boats in Lebanon has several drivers who compete in local dirt track racing and are proud to be providing a night for the employees for a second year.

Any other Modified drivers let us know if you plan on making it to The Midway for this $500-to-win, $80-to-start race.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps slated for 6:30 and racing to begin at 7:30. Draw cut-off for all classes is 6:55 with drivers meeting after hot laps. Pit passes are $30 for adults and kids are $10 while grandstand adult admission is only $10.
