SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- Other than some strong winds blowing in Southern Minnesota this Saturday night was a perfect night for racing, a great crowd and an excellent car count was on hand for the Hardy’s Bar B Que and Strikers Corner night at the Deer Creek Speedway. Dale Lambrecht also had his Peterbilt on hand that was re-done by the popular CMT Trick My Truck show and had a large group of people near it all night long. On the track first time winners highlighted most of the nights racing action.

The EZ Fabricating USRA Modifieds had the biggest car count with 32 modifieds in the pit area. Kelly Shryock took the early lead with Mark Noble, Mike Sorensen and Steve Wetzstein racing for second. Wetzstein took the second spot while Brad Waits moved up to the battle with Sorensen and Noble.

Shryock started pulling away from the field with Wetzstein trying to maintain a close distance. With five to go, Noble took over third with Waits now working on Sorensen. Two laps later, Sorensen was again alongside of Noble. They touched with both cars getting sideways, allowing Corey Dripps and Waits to move into third and fourth leaving the other two to continue their own race.

With 13 to go, Shryock was working lapped traffic and Wetzstein was now on his bumper. For the next three laps the duo swapped spots in nearly every corner. With 10 to go, Wetzstein spun his car in turn 2 but stayed under full throttle and, after completing the 360 maneuver, took off in fourth spot with only Waits and Dripps getting past.

A caution with nine to go as the leader made contact with lapped traffic saw the leader pull pitside with a flat tire, handing the lead to Waits. Waits was a rocket in the lead, running tight up against the wall around the track.

Dripps came home second and Noble made it around Wetzstein on a late restart for third.
