Banquet closes out 2008 racing season at Deer Creek Speedway

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. - A capacity crowd packed the Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Rochester for the 2008 Deer Creek Speedway racing banquet on Saturday, Nov. 15.
Justin Queensland put on a great slide show for the fans and drivers again this year starting off with a thank you slide show remembering those who are overseas fighting the wars and a tribute to the racing during the 2008 season.

Racing stayed strong despite the economy for the season at Deer Creek Speedway with 501 different drivers checking into the back gate during the racing season.

A highlight film of the 2008 Featherlite Fall Jamboree was up next presented by Talking Dirt Productions. after which a great meal was served to all of those attending.

A huge line of contingency prizes were offered to the drivers on hand with everyone going home with a bag full of goodies courtesy of some really great sponsors.

As each class was brought to the stage to receive their trophies a slide show was presented highlighting the racing in their respective classes.

Brad Waits won his first title in the EZ Fabricating USRA Modified division with five feature wins. Jason Cummins took home two wins on his way to a second-place standing with Tim Donlinger, Bob Timm and Mike Sorensen rounding out the top-5 in the ultra-fast class. Others to score victories were Donlinger and Bob Timm.

Cummins took home the Most Improved Driver Award.

Mick Glenn took home the Sportsmanship Award.

It was another exciting season at the speedway and it was capped off with guest speaker Karl Frederickson of Speedway Illustrated who came in as a guest speaker and entertained the crowd as he talked about the drivers, the speedway in general and the exciting racing action he saw at the speedway during his visit to the Featherlite Fall Jamboree.

Opening weekend is planned for April 4, 2009, with racing action every Saturday night at the Deer Creek Speedway. Tickets will be on sale shortly for all weekly shows and the special events will be following shortly as they are announced.

It was another great season at the speedway under the promotion of the Queensland family and 2009 looks to build on the tradition of the Southern Minnesota speedplant.
