SPRING VALLEY, Minn. - A great field of cars were on hand in the USRA Modifieds Saturday night at the Deer creek Speedway, and their feature race was awesome.

Mike Sorensen led early with Todd Scharkey quickly working into second. Jeff James and Jason Cummins were side by side for third on Scharkey's rear bumper early.

James and Cummins split Scharkey on lap 5 with Cummins taking over the second spot. James now was battling with Nate Wasmund for third as a caution flew with 19 to go.

On the restart, Sorensen led with Cummins on his rear bumper. Cummins took the lead on the next lap with Wasmund following him and now racing Sorensen for second.

Steve Wetzstein was showing a lot of speed after starting 14th as he took over the fifth spot with 14 to go.

A caution with 13 to go negated Cummins' straight-away lead over the field but he did jump back out front on the restart. Wasmund, Wetzstein and Sorensen were three wide behind the leader.

Sorensen held on for the second spot as Wasmund now was trying to hold off Bobby Swanson for fourth behind Wetzstein.

With five to go, Cummins built up a straight-away lead over the field. Scharkey started working forward again, moving past Swanson for fifth and on the next lap under Wasmund for fourth.

Cummins cruised home for the win with Sorensen and Wetzstein rounding out the top-5.
