Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series releases 2005 dates

McHENRY, Ill. -- The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series are proud to release their schedule for the 2005 racing season, marking the 46th year of sanctioning for the all dirt winged/410's of the Interstate Racing Association. Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts & Service Centers will again be the series title sponsor, while United Trailers is back on as an associate series sponsor. Thirty-four race dates at twenty-one upper midwestern venues within a five state region appear.

Wisconsin's Dodge County Fairgrounds, Cedar Lake Speedway, and Wilmot Speedway host the most point shows with three each, while Iowa's Knoxville Raceway also appears with three.

While much is the same for 2005, IRA is extremely excited to have added some new events to this years campaign. Cedar Lake Speedway has added sprint cars for the first time to its' high-profile Masters event, and IRA is honored to be the host sanction for June 17-18 affair.

IRA will also make their first appearance ever at Minnesota's Deer Creek Speedway June 24th. Deer Creek was named The Wissota Track of the Year in 2004. IRA will be going back to its' original roots on August 19th by headlining the Kenosha (WI) County Fair at Wilmot Speedway. Wilmot was IRA's home track throughout the 70's and 80's. Also new to the schedule will be The Dick Witt Checkered Classic September 17th at the Dodge Co. Fairgrounds, held in memory of the groups' long time official starter who was taken by cancer after a decade long fight.

IRA is proud to be returning to the Freeport (IL) Raceway Park after a five year absence, and to Wisconsin's Luxemburg Speedway after being gone last year.

The schedule is filled with numerous traditional events and dates, including The Rick Schmidt Memorial at Dodge Co. to open the point season April 30th, The Battle of Lake Michigan June 3-4, with shows at Michigan's Hartford Speedway Park, and an all sprint affair the following night at the Butler Battlegrounds as IRA shares the card with the SOD 360's. The popular IRA Sprint/Badger Midget combo event, The Raceway @ Powercom Park's Triple Crown is set for July 16th, while IRA travels to Knoxville one week later for the July 22-23 Summer Classic. Labor Day Weekend Border Wars is back again September 3-4 with shows at Grant Co. (WI) Speedway, and Cresco (IA) Speedway. September 9th has IRA headlining Superior Speedway's Northern Nationals, followed the next night September 10th, with the Jerry Richert Memorial IRA/Knoxville/NOSA Challenge at Cedar Lake. IRA then closes its' season as always with the Frank Filskov Memorial Fall Classic at Sheboygan Co. (WI) Fair Park October 1st.

The IRA will be supporting five seperate events in a non-points role, including four with the World of Outlaws.

The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series has long been known for its' competitive style and format, but mostly for its' unprecedented car count as the group traditionally provides the largest member supported car count per event of any traveling sprint series. Current champ Scotty Neitzel will be back in hopes of defending his crown, while past series champions' Joe Roe, Kim Mock, and John Haeni all hope to regain the IRA throne as a record point fund awaits.
