Scott, Evans and Raulston Shine During Veterans Night at Route 66 Motor Speedway
AMARILLO, Tex. (May 16, 2026) — A packed pit area and a full grandstand welcomed fans to a thrilling Veterans Night Weekly Show at Route 66 Motor Speedway on Saturday night as three competitive USRA divisions put on an action-packed evening of dirt track racing in the Texas Panhandle.
A strong field of competitors checked in through the pit gates with 23 Sunoco Race Fuels USRA Limited Mods, 18 Mel Hambelton Ford USRA Modifieds, and 16 Mesilla Valley Transportation USRA Tuners all battling for feature event victories.
The Mel Hambelton Ford USRA Modifieds kicked off feature racing and it was Derek Scott making the most of his front row starting spot. Scott drove a flawless race from the pole position to capture his first USRA feature victory of the season. AJ Sharpensteen kept the pressure on throughout the event and crossed the line in second while Ronnie Yanacsek charged from the ninth starting position to finish third. Braden Elliott collected a fourth-place finish with Chad Tanquary rounding out the top five.
In the Sunoco Race Fuels USRA Limited Mods, Terrell Evans picked up the feature victory after starting on the outside of the front row. Jeffrey Kaup sliced his way through the field from seventh to finish second while Dustin Robinson advanced from eighth to third. Ryan Penrod finished fourth and Coleten Agee completed the top five finishers.
The Mesilla Valley Transportation USRA Tuners closed out the evening with an exciting 12-lap main event. Kade Raulston powered to the victory from the outside front row position while Mekayla Wynne stayed in contention throughout the race to finish second. Jeffrey Thompson charged from ninth to third, Curtis Dalrymple advanced from eighth to fourth, and Cassi Webb made one of the biggest moves of the night by racing from 14th to finish fifth.
Following a successful Veterans Night program, Route 66 Motor Speedway will take Memorial Day Weekend off before returning to action with another Weekly Show on Saturday, May 30.
