Dishong, Karrick highlight Nextran season opener at Lakeside Speedway

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (April 24, 2026)—The Nextran GMC Championship Series season opener took place Friday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., featuring a full slate of high-energy dirt track racing. Drivers across five divisions battled for dominance as the 2026 season got underway at the historic oval.

Chris Dishong of Atchison captured the checkered flag in the Schweizer Performance USRA Stock Cars feature. Justin Seifert of Kansas City followed in second, while Shayne Bailey of Kearney, Mo., took third. Gene Claxton of Kansas City, Mo., finished fourth, and Eddie Ingram of Kansas City rounded out the top five.

In the Show-Me Whitetails USRA B-Mods, Tim Karrick of Basehor drove to the winner's circle. Eric Spreer of Perry secured the runner-up spot, with Chad Clancy of Polo, Mo., finishing third. Darren Shaw of Lawson, Mo., claimed the fourth position, while Kyle Henning of Atchison finished fifth.

In the Schweizer Performance USRA Stock Cars feature, Gavin Grier of Cameron, Mo., and Jason Newman of Kearney, Mo., both showed serious speed. Grier started 13th and battled his way up to seventh, while Newman gained eight positions after starting 17th to finish ninth.

The Show-Me Whitetails USRA B-Mods also saw significant movement from Darren Shaw of Lawson, Mo. Shaw started in the ninth spot and worked his way into the top five, eventually crossing the line in fourth.

On Saturday and Sunday, the sold-out 2X Monster Trucks Live Tour takes place. Next Friday, May 1, the Nextran GMC Championship Series returns to the legendary Lakeside Speedway featuring Schweizer Performance USRA Stock Cars, Show-Me Whitetails USRA B-Mods, Pied Piper Termite & Pest Control Pure Stocks, Deutz Power Center Midwest E-Mods and Happy Dad Roofing Vintage Cars.
