Morris wins BlueBonnet Showdown

ENNIS, Texas (April 24, 2026) - Chris Morris delivered a statement win Friday night with the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports, capitalizing on a fast car and navigating challenging track conditions to secure the victory at the Big O Speedway.

Morris, who showed speed from the drop of the green, held off a steady charge from Chase Neill while Jason Ingalls worked his way forward into the podium.

The 20-lap Pannell Chipping Feature was slowed by just a single caution, but the story of the race was the overly saturated racing surface that created slick, technical conditions and led to heavy attrition throughout the field. Early contenders Dillon Pike and Casey Fowler both saw their nights end before the finish, while Morris maintained composure out front and never relinquished control.

Neill’s runner-up finish marked a strong night after advancing from fifth, and Ingalls’ drive from seventh to third highlighted one of the more impressive runs in the field. Sam Osman and Jack Sartain completed the top five.

Heat race action earlier in the night set the stage with Pike, Morris, Fowler and Sartain all picking up wins in their respective prelims. Qualifying saw Fowler and Morris set the pace in their groups, further establishing themselves as drivers to beat heading into feature competition.

Saturday night’s scheduled program was ultimately canceled due to the threat of severe weather, forcing officials to make a proactive decision in the interest of safety for teams, fans and staff. Despite the abbreviated weekend, Friday’s program provided plenty of action under tough conditions and a deserving winner as Morris added the first ARMS victory of his career to his resume.
