Hovden, Falck, Riehle and Larson claim Winneshiek Raceway season-opening wins
DECORAH, Iowa (May 2, 2026) — Winneshiek Raceway kicked off its season Saturday night with the Mabe’s Pizza Dash, bringing 66 competitors through the back gate for a strong opening-night program.
The QuickCar Racing Products USRA Hobby Stocks were first to hit the speedway for their A-Main, and Steve Larson wasted no time taking command. Larson led all 18 laps from the pole position to capture the season-opening victory. Joshua Ludeking finished second, followed by Ryan Crooks, Scott Spilde and Max Jones.
In the Mesilla Valley Transportation USRA Tuners, Dillon Riehle matched the wire-to-wire performance, leading every lap from the pole. Dalton Fels kept the pressure on and finished second, with Perry Kessel third, Katie Stahl fourth and Jentry Bravener fifth.
The Christie Door Company USRA Stock Cars rolled out next for their 18-lap main event, where Kyle Falck charged from the fourth starting spot to grab the win. Taylor Skauge finished runner-up, Kevin Donlan came from eighth to land on the podium in third, Mitch Hovden was fourth and Taylor Donlan completed the top five.
The night wrapped up with the PEM Racing Gears & Drivetrain USRA B-Mods, where defending national champion Dan Hovden showed championship form. Hovden led every lap of the 18-lap feature to score the victory, while Taylor Skauge chased him to the finish in second. Ashton Pankow finished third, Kyle Anderson fourth and Patrick McDermott rounded out the top five.
Winneshiek Raceway opened the season in strong fashion, setting the tone for another exciting year of racing in Decorah.
